Revenue share

Revenue share

An ongoing revenue stream should be returned to all Gippsland local councils. A monetised percentage of energy generated should flow on a monthly basis to the community. Local councils might be the best recipient as they are already established to care for the community. Whether they use it to repair roads, reduce rates or establish better services would be determined through normal Council decision-making processes, of which the community gains input. It's important the money is not fixed or determined after profit.

Points

A tangible benefit for the community

Community Benefits Schemes should be mandated in the auction process and granting of the off-shore wind contracts. They should be indexed to inflation. Gippsland communities should benefit from their environments being used by off-shore wind energy providers.
