There are some concerns over the way DSIs use data collection techniques such as social media analytics and multimedia crawling ect. posing a challenge to consent, privacy and ownership of the data used and generated. Need to create a legal and ethical framework to cope with this.
With growing use of research and data collection, there is the need to establish the rules and framework to cope with privacy and data protection issues.
